A DIGITAL HUMANITIES APPROACH
TO ASIAN CATHOLIC CULTURE
Tokyo - February 16-17, 2023
Thanks to Prof. Bernardo Brown, ISAC hosted its first in-person workshop in Tokyo on Feb 16-17 2023. With support from the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) of the International Christian University (ICU), this two-day workshop explored the use of digital technologies for projects in the humanities and social sciences. Together, we examined selected digital projects to evaluate how ISAC-related projects could make use of digital tools to enhance their development and outreach.
Guest participants presented past experiences with digitization techniques, geolocation and other tools: the China Historical Christian Database, the Maritime Asia Heritage Survey, Voices from Tohoku, and the Singapore Historical GIS. Meanwhile, ISAC associate researchers discussed the objectives and challenges faced by on-going projects we are developing.
The objective of the workshop was to work together towards the incorporation of digital tools to our research efforts and to promote the dissemination of research findings developing user-friendly platforms.
